Pillar 03
Trust, psychological safety and the daily habits that make new behaviour permanent. Builds on Lonka's research, the Larus Academia shared leadership framework and Edmondson's research framework.
Key prerequisite: Psychological Safety · Measured and tracked over the engagement
School Community Engagement
A school community is the sum of what is consistently rewarded, practised and structured. The model shapes all three dimensions simultaneously.
Top-down, single-leader decision-making
Distributed authority, decisions made at the right level
Professional development delivered to staff
Teachers own and lead their own professional growth
Mistakes managed privately or punished
Mistakes become shared learning opportunities
Change announced but not embedded
New behaviours encoded in structure and daily routine
Preconditions
A shared, compelling vision that is owned by the whole leadership team.
Change stalls when the principal hedges. Visible, sustained commitment from the top is non-negotiable.
Two-way, honest and frequent. Staff need to understand the "why" before they accept the "what".
Decisions rooted in learning science and evidence build staff credibility and confidence.
Community building cannot be rushed. The model requires a 2–3 year horizon.
Early wins tracked and communicated honestly. Morale depends on seeing movement.
